You are unique. So is how your body reacts to certain foods.

There is so much information out there, opinions, rules, and do's and don'ts when it comes to healthy eating. So how do you know what food or protocol is right for you?

We've started a list below in an effort to catalogue the most progressive food philosophies in one place, easy to read and analyze. What would you add to this list?

Paleo

The paleo diet is sometimes referred to as the “caveman diet”. This diet focuses on eating mostly seafood, lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. It steers clear of almost all grains, no added salt, and no added sugar.

By eating this way, many people find that they not only lose weight, but eating cleaner can boost energy levels and clear up some common health problems such as fatigue and headaches.

Whole30

A version of the paleo diet, Whole30 has a dedicated and involved following. Whole30 is different from the paleo diet in that it is marketed as a 30-day program that eliminates all sugar, grains, alcohol, dairy, and legumes.

Part of what makes Whole30 unique is the accompanying book, which not only delivers information about their program but also provides recipes. There are also online communities you can join to find comradery during your clean eating journey.

Gluten free

Gluten is found in wheat, most commonly in breads, pasta, and baked goods but can also be found in unexpected places. For those with a gluten allergy or celiac disease, eating anything with gluten can cause bloating, diarrhea, and more. Cutting out gluten can relieve many of these symptoms.

Luckily, in today’s world, gluten free is a common way to live. Grocery stores have many gluten-free offerings as do many restaurants.

Healthy fats

In the 1980s fat got a bad rap, but now science has shown that healthy fats are actually a very important part of having a healthy heart. A diet high in healthy fats can actually help reduce LDL cholesterol (which is what can clog arteries).

Some of the most popular healthy fat foods include avocado, nuts, olive oil, ghee, eggs, and full fat dairy.

Raw food

Perhaps the most unique of all the food philosophies, eating a raw diet means more than just fruit and vegetables but can also include raw fish, fermented foods, nuts, and seeds. The philosophy behind eating mostly raw food is that it’s easier for your body to digest.

What is right for you?

Many of these food philosophies share a common theme: eating more fresh foods and less processed ones.  Tin Star Foods Ghee is a perfect pairing for all of these philosophies, Whole30 approved, and a favorite of the Paleo community.

Whether you choose to try Whole30 for 30 days or go gluten-free for life, changing what you eat can alert you to the many ways what you’re eating is affecting your body, health, and state of mind.
